FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- In what shapes up to be one of the busiest weekends of the season for the Oklahoma Track and Field program, only one athlete was able to compete before the rest were shut out of competition by weather Friday at the Arkansas Twilight in Fayetteville. Rain soaked the competition surface at John McDonnell Stadium while frequent lightning and tornado warnings caused delays before the eventual cancellation. Despite the inclement weather, Mikaela Johansson was able to extend her own program record in the women's hammer throw.
For the second consecutive week, Johansson extended the program record in the women's hammer throw as she finished second overall and first among collegiate competitors. Johansson tossed the implement a regional qualifying distance of 191-8 (58.43) after throwing it 189-11 (57.88) at last week's Sooner Invitational. Johansson eclipsed the regional qualifying mark on all three of her legal throws.
Three different groups of OU athletes will be in action tomorrow stretching from California to Ohio.
