NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Oklahoma Track and Field program hosts its first home meet of the outdoor season as athletes from the high school and collegiate levels take to the track for the 40th John Jacobs Invitational Friday and Saturday. Action kicks off Friday at 8:30 a.m. with the running events of the high school meet. Collegiate action at the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex begins Saturday at 10 a.m. with women's javelin.
Big 12 rivals Oklahoma State and Kansas will be in attendance at the collegiate meet as well as athletes from Arkansas, Oral Roberts, SMU and the University of Texas-Arlington. Both the Oklahoma and Arkansas women enter the weekend ranked in the top 25 nationally. Over 1,200 athletes are slated to compete in the high school meet on Friday.
Admission for the two-day event is free and parking will be available in the Duck Pond parking lot, just north of the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex.

While the action in Norman is heating up, a small group of Oklahoma men's distance athletes will head to Tempe, Ariz., for the Sun Angel Track Classic.
