Rowing Races on the Charles

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Oklahoma rowing team competed at the Head of the Charles in Boston, Mass. Sunday, Oct. 18.
Oklahoma raced in the women's championship eights and finished with a time of 19 minutes:25.311 seconds. The Sooners were led by coxswain Kelsey Witten, Rebecca Staff, Chelsea Moore, Meagan Harrell, Brooke Sheppard, Abbey LaFollette, Meghan Farrell, Melea McCreary and Ashley LaFollette.
The winding three mile course started at the Boston University Boathouse in Cambridge, Mass. The first checkpoint was the Riverside Boat Club where Oklahoma had a time of 4:15.282. Just shy of the two mile mark at the Harvard Boathouse, the Sooners were at 10:21.608 and at the Cambridge Boat Club were at 15:19.342 heading to the finish line. Oklahoma finished with a time of 18:25.311 but incurred a one minute penalty during the race.
The Sooners next competition is Oct. 31, at the Head of the Colorado in Austin, Texas.
