Softball Ushers in 2009 Season

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma softball team ushered in the 2009 season this weekend in a pair of events. On Friday evening, the Diamond Club hosted the annual Meet the Sooners dinner, while Saturday the team ventured to two regional malls to meet fans and sign autographs.

Friday evening's dinner featured head coach Patty Gasso, several videos highlighting the 2008 season and the fall triathlon. The master of ceremonies for the night was Oklahoma Vice-President for Student Affairs Clarke Stroud. The highlight of the evening, however, was the talent show. Each class took the stage in choreographed routines to impress to crowd.

On Saturday morning, the team signed autographs at Sooner Mall in Norman before heading to Penn Square Mall in Oklahoma City that afternoon.

The Sooners open the season Thursday evening at the Hawai'i Paradise Classic in Honolulu. OU faces the host school in a 10 p.m. CT contest.
