NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team opens its 2008-09 season on Monday at the Aldila Intercollegiate.  The 54-hole event is co-hosted by Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee State at the par-72, 6,999-yard Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Oklahoma will play 36 holes on Monday, followed by Tuesday's 18-hole final round.

The OU lineup features Ben Blundell, Liam Logan, Riley Pumphrey, Tyler Rody and Ryan Sirman.

"We are all looking forward to our first event of the season," said OU Head Coach Jim Ragan.  "Last year, we had a young team that was very inexperienced.  By the end of the season, we beat some of the best teams in the country at the NCAA West Regional.  We again have a very young squad, but they have some experience, so it should be an exciting year for us."

Oklahoma narrowly missed an NCAA Championships appearance last season, finishing four shots shy of advancing after upending four squads ranked in the Golfstat top-25 poll.

The Sooners recorded four top-5 finishes last season, including a season-best-tying third in last year's opener in Chattanooga, Tenn., when the event was known as the Scenic City Invitational.

A complete recap of each day's action will be posted as soon as official scores are in.
