Daescu Continues to Roll

Navy Invitational Day Two

NORMAN, Okla. – Andrei Daescu extended his record to 2-0 this fall after advancing to third round at the Costa Mesa Pro Futures Classic in Costa Mesa, Calif. Ranked 22nd in ITA rankings, Daescu dropped ATP-ranked professional John Hoyes in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

Day two at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md., also saw Oklahoma finish 2-3 against Maryland.

Victorious for OU were Ionut Beleleu who defeated David Kwon,7-5, 0-6, 7-5, and Chase Miller, who teamed with Arkansas' Matt Walters to defeat Jonathan Ribaste and Mathias Sarrazin 8-5 in thedoubles.

Miller dropped his singles match, losing 6-1, 6-1 to Ribaste. George Chanturia went 0-2 on the day, losing to Nicolai Nielsen 7-6 (3), 6-2 in singles. Partnered with Beleleu in doubles, the duo lost to Boris Fetbroyt and Andy Orban of Maryland, 8-5.

The Sooners complete play in the Navy Invitational Sunday against Richmond.
