NORMAN, Okla. - The Big 12 Conference announced Sunday that Oklahoma junior first baseman Samantha Ricketts was named to the Big 12's All-Tournament team. Ricketts was the lone Sooner named to the 13-member team as OU was knocked out by 10th-seeded Nebraska in Oklahoma's first game of the tournament.
Ricketts was solid in OU's loss as she went 3-for-3 with two home runs and a double while also adding four RBIs in OU's 6-5 loss. The three-time All-Big 12 selection tied her single-game career high in the contest with 10 total bases and also tied the OU single season record with two home runs in a game.
It marks Ricketts second All- Tournament team honor as she was a 2006 All-Tournament selection as a freshman.
Texas A&M, the Big 12 regular season champions, also earned the postseason title after beating Nebraska, 5-0, in the championship game on Sunday. Aggie pitcher Megan Gibson earned Most Outstanding Player honors.
The Sooners will learn their NCAA Tournament fate Sunday night at 9 p.m. as the NCAA Tournament Selection Show will announce the sites and pairings for the 64-team field on ESPNU.
