NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma softball head coach Patty Gasso announced the signing of Evan Sallis to a National Letter of Intent Tuesday morning. The Muskogee, Okla., product signed her NLI during the late signing period and completes the six-member class.
Sallis will join Allee Allen (Buena Park, Calif.), Kirsten Allen (Union, Ken.), Samantha Bachman (Midwest City, Okla.), Karolyne Long (Midwest City, Okla.) and Katie Norris (Stillwater, Okla.) in the fall of 2008.
"I was immediately drawn to Evan when I saw her impressive defense and very soft hands in the infield," Gasso said. "After I saw how fast she was and the offensive threat she can be at the plate, I knew she could help this team in the future."

A four-year starter at Muskogee High School, Sallis had a strong final season where she hit .477 during her senior campaign. Sallis earned All-State honors during her senior season and was a four-time all-conference selection as a shortstop. In addition to being named the 2007 Big East Conference Player of the Year, Sallis was also the squad's three-time offensive and defensive player of the year.
Sallis was also a standout athlete at Muskogee High School where she was a four-year starter for the basketball team.
The Sooners will lose four seniors this season as Savannah Long, Susan Ogden and pitchers Lauren Eckermann and Jadyn Smith will finish their OU softball career this spring.
