STILLWATER, Okla. - The Bedlam softball game has been postponed for a later date after heavy rains in the Stillwater area disrupted the game in the bottom of the second inning. The Sooners own the 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second and the game will resume at the exact same point. However, time and location of the game have not been decided upon yet.
Oklahoma wasted no time getting on the board as Amber Flores led off the game with a walk on a 3 -2 count. Next, Savannah Long sacrifice bunted Flores over to second as Susan Ogden followed that with a single to left as OU had runners at the corners with one out. Clean-up hitter Samantha Ricketts did her job as she ripped a two RBI single up the middle to give OU the early 2-0 lead. An out later, Traci Dickenson notched a bloop single to right as OU had runners at the corners again. However, the OU rally ended as Wendy Trott popped up to shortstop to end the top of the first, but OU owned the 2-0 advantage.
Oklahoma State had one out in the bottom of the second with Heather Kim up to bat on a 2-2 count when the umpires told both teams to return to their dugouts. The Sooners waited it out in a 40-minute rain delay until the game was eventually called.
The Sooners return to Big 12 action this weekend at the OU Softball Complex. Oklahoma will host Missouri in a two-game series. The first game of the series will be on Saturday at Noon and will be broadcast live on Cox Channel 2 in Oklahoma City. The series will conclude on Sunday with a 12 p.m. contest.
The first 250 fans on Saturday will receive a free OU soft softball and the first 1,000 fans on Sunday will receive free OU trading cards.
