Men's Tennis Victorious in Fall Opener

Sooners Home Opener Postponed

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma Sooners (4-3) home opener scheduled for Sunday afternoon has been postponed because of the probability of heavy rains and high winds in the Norman area throughout Sunday.

OU was scheduled to play Oral Roberts at noon followed by a match with East Central at 3 p.m.

No new date for the matches has been set.

Oklahoma is ranked No. 47 in the Feb. 26 release of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team rankings.  OU opened the season at No. 34.

Sophomore Andrei Daescu is ranked No. 34 in the ITA singles rankings, while junior Sergey Avdeyev ranks 96th.  

Daescu and senior Federico Chavarria hold the No. 40 doubles ranking.

Next, the Sooners travel to Fort Worth, Texas, on Wednesday to play Texas Christian at 5 p.m.
