MANHATTAN, N.Y. --  A two-day trip to New York City for the New Balance Collegiate Invitational resulted in the University of Oklahoma's indoor track and field record books being rewritten.

The mile record fell to Rob Sorrell Saturday following Sheldon Leith's record in the 60-meter hurdles on Friday.

Rob Sorrell also recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and an OU best. Sorrell finished sixth in the mile, but more importantly recorded a time of 4:03.66. Sorrell's time bested the previous OU best of 4:04.64 by Salah Hussein in 2004.

One day after finishing second in the 1,000-meter run, junior Tony Clement was second in the 800-meter run, but more importantly posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:50.10.
