NORMAN, Okla. - Junior first baseman Samantha Ricketts continues to receive national recognition after recording one of the best seasons at the plate by any Sooner in school history last season.
Ricketts set a school record with 81 RBI and led the team with 18 home runs as the Sooners advanced to an NCAA Super Regional in 2007. Ricketts was honored as a second team All-American and was named one of three finalists for National Player of the Year for her efforts.
As the No. 5 Sooners begin preparing for the season opener this Friday against No. 10 UCLA, Ricketts is earning national attention. Last week, she was named to USA Softball's National Player of the Year top 50 Watch List and this week has been recognized by CSTV.
Jacob E. Osterhout of CSTV features Ricketts in Monday's column and her seamless transition to the University of Oklahoma where she has made quite the impact on the Sooners.
