NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma softball junior Samantha Ricketts picked up her second preseason award Monday after being named to the second-team ESPN.com Preseason All-America team in a list released by the web site.
The 2007 NFCA All-American was also named to the USA Softball Player of the Year watch list last week. The first baseman returns for her junior season after setting a school and Big 12 record with 81 RBI last season, which also led the nation. The second team All-American also tallied 18 home runs last season and was one of three finalists for USA Softball's National Player of the Year award.
Ricketts was one of four Big 12 players selected to the list as Megan Gibson (Texas A&M) and Brette Reagan (Baylor) were first-team selections and pitcher Amanda Scarborough (Texas A&M) joined Ricketts on the second team.
