BLANCHARD, Okla. - Inclement weather couldn't wash the smiles off the faces of the OU men's golf squad as it outlasted the many Sooner alumni that returned to the area for the 2007 Vickers Cup at Winter Creek Golf and Country Club in Blanchard, Okla.
The tournament format, which pits the current Oklahoma squad against former OU players, ended with the young guns squeaking out a 337-338 victory. The top five scores from each squad counted towards the team total.
"It's a great event and one of our favorite tournaments of the year," said OU head coach Jim Ragan. "It means a lot to the program to have those guys come back and participate."

Headlining the event was the 2004 British Open Champion Todd Hamilton who shot one of three 66s turned in by the alumni squad.
The 2007-08 Sooner squad was paced by a pair of freshman, highlighting the recruiting effort by Ragan and assistant coach Lynn Monzingo. Liam Logan (Ft. Worth, Texas) matched Hamilton's effort with a 66 of his own to lead OU while Tyler, Texas, native Ryan Sirman was a stroke back at 5-under.
Sophomore's Eric Durbin and Spencer Rives, and freshman Cameron Meyers all shot 68 to seal the tournament title.
The team departs for Chattanooga, Tenn., Saturday afternoon to prepare for the Scenic City Invitational which begins Monday morning. Live stats of the 54-hole event are available at golfstat.com. Visit SoonerSports.com for a complete recap of each day of action.
