Eric Durbin Fires 64 as OU Stands in Third

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The University of Oklahoma men's golf team finished the first and second rounds of the 54-hole Shoal Creek Invitational in fourth place at Shoal Creek Country Club in Birmingham, Ala., on Monday.

The Sooners posted a two-round team total of 588 (+12) at the 7,154-yard, par-72 layout. Oklahoma finished Monday morning's round in a tie for second at +4 (292) before falling back slightly during afternoon play.

Eric Durbin posted OU's low finish on Monday with rounds of 72 and 71. The Houston, Texas, native heads into Tuesday's final round in a five-way tie for third at -1. The sophomore is coming off a career-best, second-place showing at the Scenic City Invitational that included a 7-under-par 64 in the opening round.

Senior Phillip Bryan stands in 22nd after back-to-back 74s. A stroke back are sophomores Ben Blundell and Tyler Rody who sit at +6, in a tie for 25th. Blundell entered Monday's afternoon play in second after a first-round 2-under-par 70, but shot 80 in the afternoon, while Rody had rounds of 76 and 74.

Rounding out the OU scoring is freshman Ryan Sirman who carded rounds of 80 and 77, finishing the day in a tie for 56th.

Texas Tech leads the team standings at +2 through two rounds after a 3-under-par team total in the afternoon round. The Red Raiders are five shots clear of tournament host UAB.

Chris Kennedy of North Florida holds a one-stroke lead in the individual standings after rounds of 69 and 72.

After Shoal Creek, Oklahoma will host the second-annual Oklahoma Intercollegiate at Oak Tree Golf Club in Edmond, Okla., on Oct. 14-16. Sooner golf fans are encouraged to attend as the event is free to the public.
