Norman, Okla. - Norrelle Dickson and the Akron Racers had a successful weekend as they swept the Michigan Ice in their final regular season meeting, putting Akron as the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.

The Racers opened the series with a 5-0 win on Thursday, Aug. 16. Nickson continued to lead the Racers, going 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring one run and adding a stolen base.

In game two of the series the Racers continued to control the offensive game as they defeated Michigan, 6-4. Dickson continued to be a threat on the bases adding another stolen base to her career total. She also went 1-for-3 from the plate while scoring another run.

The Racers bats slowed down in the final game, but their defense made up for it as they defeated the Ice 2-0 on Saturday.

Along with the success of the Racers came Dickson's personal success. A first team All-American third baseman during her time at OU, Dickson was named to the 2007 All-NPF team.

She is currently the NPF's top hitter, posting 53 hits in 137 official at bats. She holds a remarkable .387 average that includes 20 runs scored, six RBI and a .436 on-base percentage.

Known as the Racers' slap hitter, she grabbed 13 stolen bases and remains one of the league's most dangerous players to contain. Defensively, Dickson committed only six errors at the hot corner.
