Dickson in the NPF: Week 5

NORMAN, Okla. - Norrelle Dickson and the Akron Racers took on the Denson Japan Pro Team in a four-game series in Akron, Ohio Thursday, July 12-Sunday, July 15.

The Racers started strong, taking a 1-0 lead in the series with a 5-3 win over Japan in Thursday's series opener. Dickson struggled at the plate going 0-2.

In game two, Dickson came alive with three hits and one run. The Racers struggled however, dropping the game 4-3 and allowing Team Japan to tie the series.

In game three the teams battled out yet another close one, but the Racers came out with a 3-2 win. Dickson was once again solid at the plate going 1-3.

After three close games and Akron up 2-1 in the series, Dickson and the Racers put away Japan 10-0 in the final game. Dickson set the tone at the bottom of the third, singling to left to help load the bases for catcher Kristen Butler, who stepped to the plate and launched a grand slam into left field.

Dickson picked up an RBI of her own in the fourth inning singling to left field to bring in McCoy.

Dickson, who leads the Racers with 31 hits, is now second in the league in batting average with .397. The Akron Racers are now 16-8 and second in the NPF.

The Racers will take on the No. 1-ranked Washington Glory in a four-game series beginning Wednesday, July 25 at home.
