NORMAN, Okla. -

It was a battle for former Sooner Norrelle Dickson and the Akron Racers this past weekend in the NPF. The team opened the first of a four-game series Thursday, July 21 with a 2-1 win over the Rockford Thunder. Dickson contributed to the team's win going 1-for-3 at the plate.

The battle continued Friday with the Racers dropping a 2-0 game to the Thunder. However, Dickson remained steady going 1-for-3 again.

In Saturday's contest, the third of the series, the Racers dropped their second consecutive game to the Thunder (4-2) and fell out of the No. 1 spot in the standings. The game continued the series tone with the teams battling it out on the mound. Dickson never failed though, adding another hit in the game

With the Racers down 2-1 in the series, a lot was riding on the fourth and final game on Sunday. It was another battle of pitching and defense. However, first baseman Caitlin Benyi clinched the win for the Racers in the bottom of the second with her first home run of the season. The homer gave the Racers a 1-0 lead and the eventual game-winning run.

Although Dickson didn't score off her hits, she contributed a 2-for-3 outing at the plate. Dickson now leads the team with 16 hits this season.

Dickson and the Racers will travel to Washington D.C. next weekend for a four-game series with the Washington Glory, before returning home to host Team China.
