Dickson in the NPF: Week Two

NORMAN, Okla. - As a bonus to OU softball fans, SoonerSports.com will provide a weekly glimpse of former Sooner Norrelle Dickson in the National Pro Fastpitch league this summer.

This week's installment covers the second week of the NPF season for the Sooner alum. Check back every Monday for an updated look at the Sooner in the professional ranks.

The National Pro Fastpitch League is in its fourth season. Dickson is making her first appearance as she was the sixth overall pick in this year's draft and the top pick by the Akron Racers.

Dickson continued her hitting success in the National Pro Softball League this past weekend when she and the Akron Racers defeated the Philadelphia Force 3-1 in a four-game series.

In game one of the series Dickson went 3-for-4 at the plate, aiding in the Racers 15-3 win over the Force. Dickson, scoring off all three of her hits, added one RBI to her NPF career stats. Dickson, along with teammates Tracee McCoy and Kellie Middleton, led the team with three hits each.

The Racers did not let up in game two, defeating Philadelphia 6-4. Dickson continued to bring in the runs gaining another RBI with her single.

Dickson recorded two more hits in game three and scored a run in the Racers 7-0 victory over the Force.

The Racers dropped their first loss of the season in game four when they were defeated 4-3 by Philadelphia. In the close battle, Dickson managed to get one hit and score one run.

Dickson is taking an active lead in her first season in the NPF. After eight games Dickson is leading the team with 29 at bats and 11 hits. She has also recorded three stolen bases, giving her the second highest on the team.

The Racers are leading the league with a 7-1 record. Dickson and the Racers will return to Akron next weekend to host the Rockford Thunder in a four-game series beginning Thursday, June 21.
