SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Three Sooners earned All-America honors on the final day of the NCAA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships as the Sooners concluded a spectacular season in style.
In all, the OU men had seven All-Americans and the women added seven, matching the Sooners' combined program record set in 1997 when 10 men and four women earned the honor.
Kevin Bookout earned his third All-America distinction in the men's shot put, finishing fifth with a best put of 62 feet, 9.50 inches (19.14 meters).
"I had some big warm-up throws, but I couldn't really carry them over when it mattered," Bookout said. "I didn't feel bad. I was ranked sixth coming in and finished fifth, so not too bad."

Florida State (54) won the men's national title and Arizona State (60) won the women's championship.
Jessica Eldridge ran sixth in the women's 1500-meter run, earning her third All-America honor this season after doing so in both cross country and indoor track and field.
