Waco Paper Names Ricketts POY

NORMAN, Okla. - The Waco Tribune-Herald has named OU sophomore Samantha Ricketts its Big 12 Player of the Year in an article published by the paper on Wednesday. The Tribune-Herald selected its own All-Big 12 first and second teams while also naming individual awards. The paper selected Lauren Eckermann as the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.
Additionally, Sooners Traci Dickenson (second base) and Norrelle Dickson (third base) joined Ricketts (first base) and Eckermann (pitcher) on the first team. Freshman outfielder Amber Flores and junior designated player Susan Ogden highlighted the second team.

The Big 12 Conference will hand out its postseason awards, voted on by the league's coaches, tonight at an awards ceremony at approximately 7 p.m. at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. The presentation will include Academic All-Big 12 and All-Big 12 selections as well as Player of the Year, Pitcher of theYear, Freshman of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year.
The No. 2 Sooners will being postseason action on Friday at the Big 12 Championship. Oklahoma will play at 4:30 p.m. at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. OU will play the winner of Iowa State/Kansas, who play at 11 a.m. on Friday.
