FULLERTON, Calif. The No. 6 Oklahoma softball team took advantage of three errors by DePaul in the bottom of the eighth and scored two runs as the Sooners beat No. 21 DePaul, 3-2, in eight innings in the semifinals of the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif.
Oklahoma advanced to the championship with a rematch of No. 5 Arizona, who fell to the Sooners on Friday, 6-2. The Sooners and Wildcats began the championship contest at approximately 3:30 p.m. (CST).
Oklahoma improved to 32-2 on the year while DePaul took its first loss of the tournament and fell to 16-6.
Samantha Ricketts highlighted the Sooner offense with her lead off home run over center field in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 1-1. It marked the sophomore's 10th of the season.
Lauren Eckermann earned the win and improved to 19-0 after throwing the complete game and allowing only six hits and one earned run.
