Stewart Selected to NCAA 25th Anniversary Ballot

NORMAN, Okla. Two-time All-American pitcher Jennifer Stewart (1999-2002), who guided the 2000 softball team to the squad's first NCAA Championship, has been selected to the NCAA's 25th Anniversary Team ballot.

With 36 athletes and five coaches selected to the ballot, fans will have the opportunity to vote online at www.ncaasports.com until April 1 for their 10-player and one coach 25th anniversary softball team.

The left-handed hurler was named the 2000 Women's College World Series Most Outstanding Player after guiding Oklahoma to its first women's national title with a 3-1 defeat of softball powerhouse UCLA. In addition to her two All-America accolades, Stewart was a three-time All-Midwest Region selection and a four-time All-Big 12 honoree.

Additionally, Stewart led the Sooners to three straight WCWS appearances and collected two NCAA Regional MVP honors and was a selection to the WCWS All-Tournament team on two occasions.

Stewart ranks among the top five in every pitching category in Sooner history. The hurler owns the top career marks in winning percentage (.821) and victories (115) along with innings pitched (928.2) and games started (135). Additionally, she ranks second in complete games (91), appearances (167) and shutouts (35).

The 25th anniversary of NCAA women's championships will be celebrated throughout the 2005-06 championship season. NCAA Division I Softball held its first championship in 1982 and will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary at the 2006 championship.

After extensive research and discussion, an expert panel compiled a list of Division I softball student-athletes, who performed well in NCAA championships over the last 25 years.
