NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma Sooners won back-to-back games for the first time this season after shutting out Iowa State, 4-0, and scoring a season-high four goals on Sunday at John Crain Field.

OU used a pair of goals in the first and second half to top the Cyclones for just the second time in 11 all-time meetings.  The last time OU defeated Iowa State was during the 1999 season in Norman (1-0 in overtime).

Defensively, junior goalkeeper Jennifer Nichols made five saves and posted her 11th career shutout to move into a tie for second place all-time at Oklahoma with Jana Cunningham (1999-2002).

The win moves OU's overall record to 5-8-1 overall and 2-4-1 in Big 12 play, while ISU fell to 6-9 and 2-3.

Junior Shana All and senior Savannah Scott tallied OU's first half goals in the 20th minute and 27th minute, respectively.

In the second half, senior Kady Kelly tallied her sixth goal of the year on a breakaway at the 54:55 mark and was assisted by junior Audrey Habibi's second helper of the game.

Oklahoma put the game completely out of reach on Tenesha Duncan's first goal of the season with less than five minutes remaining in the second half.

“The biggest difference between our play over the last three games and to the first 10 or 11 games of the season, is that we are finding the back of the net,” said OU head coach Randy Evans.  “Our biggest problem throughout the season was finishing our scoring opportunities and now that we have 10 goals in the last three games, we are feeling extremely optimistic about turning this season around. We are spreading the ball around offensively and the kids are playing with a lot of confidence.”

The Sooners have scored 10 of their 21 goals this season over the last three games in which they have tied then-No. 10 Texas (3-3), topped Missouri 3-2 and shut out Iowa State 4-0.  Sunday's four-goal outburst marked the first time the Sooners tallied four scores since Sept. 18, 2005, when they topped Oral Roberts, 4-1.

Iowa State was unable to catch up to Oklahoma, as it trailed 14-11 in the shot column and 5-2 in corner kicks.  For Oklahoma, Kelly recorded a game-high six shots.  Kelly, who has led OU throughout the season in points, continued her recent hot streak on Sunday.  The senior has scored a goal in each of the last three games and has three assists in the last four contests.

Oklahoma's focus now shifts to its final road trip of the season.  The Sooners will travel to Lubbock, Texas, on Friday, Oct. 13 to face Texas Tech at 7 p.m.  The weekend will conclude in Waco, Texas for a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday, Oct. 15 against Baylor.
