Kim Becomes a Two-Time All-American

NORMAN, Okla. Oklahoma sophomore Anthony Kim was among the golfers announced as first-team All-Americans by the Golf Coaches Association of America late Saturday after the conclusion of the NCAA Championships.

Kim earned a spot on the PING All-American Team for the second time in as many years with a string of impressive performances to end the season, including back-to-back victories at the inaugural Texas A&M Invitiatonal and Big 12 Championships.

The La Quinta, Calif., native led the Sooners in all but one tournament during the 2004-2005 season, shooting an average of 71.36 strokes during his 33 rounds of golf played.

Other first-team All-Americans included Ryan Blaum (Duke), Roberto Castro (Georgia Tech), Rhys Davies (East Tennessee State), Matt Every (Florida), James Lepp (Washington), Spencer Levin (New Mexico), Pablo Martin (Oklahoma State), Ryan Moore (UNLV), Aron Price (Georgia Southern) and Michael Putnam (Pepperdine).

Kim joins an illustrious list of Sooners who became multiple-time All-Americans--Mark Witt (1974-75), Andrew Magee (1982-84), Greg Turner (1983-84), Todd Hamilton (1983-85), Grant Waite (1985 and 1987), Glen Day (1987, 1988), Doug Martin (1987-89), Matthew Lane (1988-90), Jeff Lee (1989-91), Patrick Lee (1992 and 1994), Grant Masson (1993, 1995-96), Craig Cozby (1994-95) and Hunter Haas (1998-99).
