ARLINGTON, Texas -- Sophomore Yolanda Goff made the final regular season meet of the 2005 outdoor season her best of the year. Goff helped OU's 400-meter relay win its race with an NCAA Regional qualifying time, then finished second in the 100-meter dash with an 11.33 at the 25th annual UTA Open on Saturday.

Her mark in the 100 ranks as the second best in school history, is a career best for Goff by nearly .40 seconds and gives her third best time in the Big 12 and the NCAA Midwest Region. It also ranks ninth in the country heading into the final week of qualifying for the 2005 NCAA Championships.

The women's relay was one of four winners for OU on Saturday. Jon McMillian won the high jump with a 7-0.50, tying his season best with a regional qualifying mark. Jennifer Plank won the women's pole vault, tying her season best with a 12-5.50, also a regional qualifying mark. Freshman Tiffany Toney won the javelin with a 124-4.

A pair of former Sooners also won their events today. Mike Westlund, the most decorated pole vaulter in school history, won the pole vault with an 18-0.50. Laverne Jones, OU's first female Olympian in track and field, won the women's 400 with a 53.58.

Eight other Sooners recorded season bests today and of those, seven were career bests. Junior Dax Thomas led the way, cutting just over .30 seconds off his best in the 400.

Finals begin on the Norman campus on Monday, then the Sooners will turn their attention to the conference championships. The Big 12 Championships are scheduled for May 13-15 in Manhattan, Kan.
