NORMAN, Okla. - In its final match of the season, the Oklahoma women's volleyball team fell to No. 25 Kansas State Saturday afternoon in three games (30-17, 30-25, 30-28) at the Ahearn Field House in Manhattan, Kan.  The Sooners finish the season with a 7-22 overall mark and 2-18 record in Big 12 action.

The Wildcats secured fourth place in the Big 12 with the win and pushed its record to 20-10 overall and 11-9 in league action.

"I thought we did some great things against a ranked team tonight," head coach Santiago Restrepo said.  "However, I thought we could have played better on defense and had better numbers blocking at the net."

Offensively, Oklahoma was held to a .126 hitting percentage while Kansas State tallied a .292 mark.  The Sooners only had two Sooners hit over a .300 clip with junior Eliane Santos leading the way with 13 kills on a .345 clip.  Sophomore Anna Stadel recorded a team-high .375 clip while pounding seven kills.

Adding additional offensive presence was junior Joanna Schmitt, who pounded 10 kills in the three-game match.

On the defensive end, Oklahoma outplayed the Wildcats in digs, collecting 38 to KSU's 36.  It was a different story at the net with Kansas State pounding 13 blocks to Oklahoma's eight.

Junior Anna Monsen led the Sooners in the back row with 10 digs while Stadel guided OU at the net with five block assists.

Similar to the earlier match this season against the Wildcats, KSU's Rita Lilliom and Sandy Werner pounded 13 and 11 kills, respectively.

K-State's Joy Hamlin was impressive at the net, stuffing eight block assists while Agata Rezende contributed six block assists for the Wildcat defense.

Oklahoma Seniors Gabriela Tonon and Jennifer Adams played in their final match as Sooners, but OU will have a veteran squad in 2006 when it returns five starters and a libero.
