September 25, 2004 | Softball
NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma softball team continued its dominance of the Fall Festival field on Saturday evening. The Sooners trumped Seminole State by the score of 9-1 in their first game of the day. In the second game senior Kami Keiter and freshman Stacy Braddock combined for a perfect game as the Sooners blanked Washburn 5-0. OU improved to 4-0 during fall play.
In the opener OU went seven innings for the first time this fall. The Sooners had run-ruled both of their previous opponents (Neosho, Southwestern) in five innings. Saturday afternoon they turned 13 hits into nine runs, five of which came in the first three innings.
Senior Christina Enea drove in three runs, including a solo home run in the seventh inning. Sophomore Stacia Aleman also hit a home run in the seventh, a two-run blast that pushed the score to the final of 9-1. Enea pushed her three game fall total to nine RBI with the outburst in the opener.

Junior Kristin Vesely drove in two runs, scored one and swiped her second base of the fall.
Junior Nicole Denes (1-0) picked up her first win of the fall after working five innings of scoreless, two-hit ball. She was relieved by freshman Jadyn Smith who allowed one run on two hits over the final two frames.
Against Washburn senior Kami Keiter and freshman Stacy Braddock pitched their way to the headlines. Keiter tossed five perfect innings. She struck out two Lady Blues hitters and only allowed two fly balls out of the infield. Braddock relieved her in the sixth inning and struck out three of the six batters she faced. Keiter (1-0) was credit with her first win of the fall.
Much of credit had to go to freshman Tayl'r Hollis who dazzled at shortstop. Hollis made four spectacular plays as she ranged in the hole, dove for a blooper and scooped up a dribbler to help conserve the perfect game.
The offense was provided by Jessica Leslie, Aleman, Vesely and Enea who each had one RBI. Leslie RBI came on a solo home run in the second inning.
The Sooners will complete Fall Festival action on Sunday with a 1:15 p.m. meeting with St. Gregory's.
Game Notes: Washburn is coached by Lisa Carey and Mandy Fulton, who are two of the more famous players in OU history. Both were instrumental in the 2000 National Championship and Carey is the only three-time All-American in OU history ... The OU pitching staff has only allowed one run on eight hits so far this fall.
