NORMAN, Okla. -- The offense was clicking, the pitching was dominating and the opponents were quickly left in the dust as the Oklahoma softball team opened the fall season with a pair of run-rule victories Friday night at the OU Softball Complex. OU opened the fall slate with a 14-0 pasting of Neosho County and followed it up with another 15-0 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Sooners, who have not lost a fall game since 2003, are off to a 2-0 start.
In the first game the Sooners posted seven runs and batted through the lineup before Neosho notched an out in the first inning. Nine runs and six hits were on the board by the time the first frame was concluded. Eight players drove in runs in the opening session with senior Christina Enea and junior Nicole Denes knocking in two a piece.
OU would post another three runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth. That was more than enough for the run-rule five inning win.
Seven Sooners finished the game with an RBI. Tops on the squad was Enea with five RBI, while Denes and senior Heather Scaglione each finished with two.

Senior Kami Keiter started and tossed three innings of one-hit ball. She was relieved by freshman Stacy Braddock, who struck out five of the six batters she faced in her collegiate debut. Braddock (1-0) was also credited with the win.
OU wasn't any nicer to Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Sooners pounced on the Bulldogs, scoring 14 runs in the first three innings.
Junior Nicole Denes made it even worse for Southwestern. She dominated in her first pitching appearance since successful off-season heart surgery. The Coppell, Texas native threw three innings of scoreless ball while striking out seven.
Freshman Jadyn Smith relieved Denes and worked two hitless innings for her first career win. Smith faced one batter over the minimum and struck out two hitters in two innings of work.
Leadoff hitter Norrelle Dickson and fellow sophomore Amber Spaulding led with the squad with three RBI, while senior Jessica Leslie and Scaglione tallied two RBI each.
Three other freshman had notable debuts. Shortstop Tayl'r Hollis went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Savannah Long went hitless but play flawlessly in the infield. Catcher Susan Ogden went 1-for-2 and worked with both of the freshmen pitchers on defensively
The Sooners return to the diamond for a doubleheader tomorrow. OU will play Seminole State in the opener of the twin bill at 4:45 p.m. OU will meet Washburn in the nightcap at 7 p.m.
