Three Sooners Named To NFCA Midwest All-Region Team

TUCSON, Ariz - Junior catcher Heather Scaglione, junior first baseman Christina Enea and freshman infielder Norrelle Dickson were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches' Assocation Midwest All-Region Team on Tuesday afternoon. Scaglione and Dickson were named to the first team while Enea garnered second team honors.

The first team honors for Scaglione and Dickson are the first of both student-athletes' careers. Scaglione led the Big 12 in seven offensive categories and was named to the Coaches' All-Big 12 First Team, as well as garnering the Big 12 Defensive Player fo the Year award.

"I am very happy for Norrelle," said Gasso. "She deserves this recognition for the work she has done all season. She has been a crucial bat in the top of our lineup from day one. Heather Scaglione has made herself into a household name and she deserved this and deserves to be an All-American as well. Christina had another solid year and she is a very well-respected player around the country. She has earned the respect of coaches throughout our region and this award shows that."

All Eight Regional Teams

Dickson is hitting .359 with 25 stolen bases. During the non-conference season Dickson hit .414 for the Sooners, who played one of the toughest pre-Big 12 schedules in the country. She did not receive any conference honors after hitting .224 in conference play.

The All-Region honor is the second of Enea's career. She was named to the Midwest First Team as a freshman after hitting .359 and driving in 59 as a rookie. This year Enea hit .281 with 22 RBI.

In 2003 junior pitcher Kami Keiter (second team) and departed stars Erin Evans (first team) and Leah Gulla (first team) were named all-region.
