On the women's side, the quartet of Catherine Odell, Ashley Johnson, Kristi Cook and Jessica Eldridge combined to shatter the school record in the distance medley relay. The foursome ran an 11.31.14 to break the record of 11:41.39 set last year. The Sooners finished fifth in the event.
Senior Laverne Jones finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with an 11.52, another NCAA Regional qualifying mark. Senior Leslie Dunlap also recorded an NCAA Regional qualifying mark, clearing 12-9.50 to finish tied for 10th in the university women's division A pole vault. Junior Austin Landreth, the defending Midwest Regional pole vault champion, earned a trip back to the regionals with a 16-10.75 to tie for ninth in the university men's division A competition. Freshman Jon McMillian earned a trip to the regional with a 6-10.75 in the high jump section B. He finished fourth with that jump.
Originally scheduled to host the John Jacobs Invitational next weekend, the Sooners will travel to the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
