December 07, 2004 | Softball

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Amateur Softball Association and USA Softball announced Tuesday the 40 athletes that will participate in the 2005 Women's National Team Camp, Jan. 3-7, at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA. Three Sooners - Seniors Heather Scaglione and Kami Keiter and sophomore Norrelle Dickson - were among the invitees.

The trio of Sooners competed with the USA Elite Team during the First World University Championships in Plant City, Fla. this past fall.  Each OU athlete played an instrumental role as the Red, White and Blue claimed the gold medal.  The three OU players make up 75 percent of the Big 12 student-athletes invited. The fourth Big 12 invitee is 2004 Olympic Gold medalist Cat Osterman.

An 18-member national team will be selected from this camp to represent the United States June 5-12 in Seattle, WA at the Pacific Rim Sports Summit.  A second selection camp will be held June 12-17 to choose the 2005 USA Softball National and Elite teams who will compete in the remainder of the year's international events.
