Softball Season Begins With 'Meet The Team' Function

Fans and local media outlets are invited to join the Oklahoma softball team as it officially kicks off the 2004 season with its annual “Meet The Team” function on Friday, Jan. 30 at 6:30 p.m. The 2004 version of the annual event will be held at the Holiday Inn in Norman. The event, which is open to the public, will serve jointly as the Sooners' media day.

Fans will be able to interact with the coaching staff and players throughout the evening. Tradition ballpark foods, including hamburgers and hot dogs, will be served to those in attendance. The cost of admission is $15. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to the softball offices - (405) 325-8361 - by Monday, Jan. 26.

All softball players and coaches will be available for media interviews during the function. Those in the media that wish to attend should contact Chris Freet at (405) 325-3671 or via email at cfreet@ou.edu. Please contact Freet prior to Wed., Jan. 28.

The OU softball team features 10 returning letterwinners, including All-Americans Kami Keiter and Christina Enea. The new look Sooners will have six freshmen bidding for starting positions as the season begins. USA National Elite Team member Norrelle Dickson and local talent Stacia Aleman lead the young group of Sooners.

The OU softball team begins the regular season on Feb. 6 with the LSU Tiger Classic in Baton Rouge, La.
