Softball Announces Fall Schedule

September 04, 2003 | Softball

NORMAN, Okla.-  The Oklahoma softball program announced its fall schedule which is highlighted by the OU Fall Festival in the beginning of October.  OU will hit the field for two local tournaments, one hosted by the Sooners and the other hosted by the Amateur Softball Association in Oklahoma City, as well as two mid-week showdowns with Seminole State and Northern.

"The goal of the fall season is to get our freshmen accustomed to the speed, intensity and strength of collegiate softball," said OU head coach Patty Gasso.  "I am looking forward to competing.  We won't be anywhere near full strength in fall but that allows us to see our weaknesses.  It helps the coaching staff observe the areas we need to work on for the spring."

Oklahoma opens the fall season on Wednesday, Sept.24 against Seminole State at the OU Softball Complex.  That weekend (Sept. 26-28) OU will enter the Oklahoma Shootout, hosted by ASA at the Don E. Porter Hall of Fame Stadium.  A week later the Sooners host the annual OU Fall Festival from Oct. 3-5.  The final game of the fall schedule is slated for Oct. 15 against Northern at the OU Softball Complex.

The field for the OU fall festival includes St. Gregory, Eastern Oklahoma, Murray State, Connors State, Neosho.  The field for the Oklahoma Shootout was unavailbe at press time.
