NORMAN, Okla. - OU freshman DaBryan Blanton has become OU's first two-time Big 12 Track and Field Athlete of the Week honoree this spring. Blanton earned the award for his performance for the week ending April 27. He shared the men's award with hurdler Chris Pinnock of Texas A&M.

Blanton, of Forney, Texas, had previously earned the honor on March 31.

He also becomes OU's second honoree in as many weeks. Freshman Kevin Bookout won the award on April 21. It also marks the fourth time this spring for a Sooner to be honored. Senior Kyle Bookout was the first honoree when he received the award on March 24.

Blanton finished second in the 100-meter dash at the 109th Penn Relays on Saturday. He finished with a 10.44, the same time as the first place runner who edged Blanton at the tape. That time is an NCAA regional qualifying mark but Blanton has a better time this season.

He also ran a leg on OU's 400-meter relay team that finished with a 41.21.

Blanton is leading the Big 12 in the 100 with his season best of 10.19, posted April 4 at the Texas Relays. He is currently ranked fourth in the NCAA in the event as well.

The Sooners will head to the Texas Invitational this Saturday.
