DES MOINES, Iowa - Freshman Blake Culp continued his improvement in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, running a 9:29.29 today at the 94th annual Drake Relays. The time was good for 12th place overall.
The time is a new career best mark for Culp who won steeplechase at the Michael Johnson Classic April 17 with a 9:36.85, his previous career best.
Culp was the only Sooner to compete in Des Moines on Saturday. He and the rest of the Sooners will head to Austin, Texas, next weekend for the Texas Invitational.
