Hanna Finishes Third In The Pole Vault At The Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - Senior Robin Hanna cleared 17-00.75 to finish third in the pole vault today at the 94th annual Drake Relays. The effort was an NCAA regional qualifying mark and was the first time for Hanna to clear the 17-0 outdoors this season.
Today's effort equals his season best of a year ago and solidifies his spot in third place on the Big 12 outdoor performance list with three weeks left before the conference championship.
Michael Westlund cleared 16-6.75 to finish 12th and sophomore Austin Landreth, who was scheduled to vault, did not compete.
Senior Kyle Bookout finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 175-6. For younger brother, Kevin, the collegiate victory string was snapped at three as he finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 56-10.25. Bookout was the highest finishing freshman, coming in behind two seniors and two juniors in the competition.
Leslie Dunlap cleared 12-6 to finish 14th in the women's pole vault and Lindsey Bourne cleared 12-0 to finish 17th in the same event. Megan Crystal was 17th in the shot put with a throw of 43-5.25. Renea' Burns did not record a distance in the javelin.
The marks by Dunlap, Westlund, Kyle Bookout, Kevin Bookout and Bourne were also NCAA regional qualifying marks. The height by Dunlap equals her season best while the others all have better marks already posted this year.
Freshman Blake Culp will be the final Sooner to compete in the meet, running the 3000-meter steeplechase on Saturday afternoon.
