The quartet of DaBryan Blanton, Dwayne Duhaney, L'eron George and Aldwyn Sappleton finished seventh today in the sprint medley relay during action in the 109th annual Penn Relays. The foursome recorded a time of 3:24.11.
In action late Thursday night, OU junior Joe McNair finished fourth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 14:35.79. Sooner teammate Jimmy Buchanan was 10th with a time of 14:40.43. The time for McNair was a season best by nearly nine seconds while Buchanan's time improved his season best by 28 seconds. Both times were career bests for the OU runners and McNair's time ranks ninth on the all-time OU list.
In other action Friday, the women's sprint medley relay team of Terrika Warren, Aisha Stringer, Natasha Franklin and LaVerne Jones was 10th with a 3:57.11, a season best for OU. Cory Crosby finished 16th in the long jump with a 22-1.50 and the men's 400-meter relay finished 19th with a 41.21. Blanton, George, Crosby and Sean Williams combined for that mark.
The men's 1600-meter relay finished 13th in the prelims today and advanced to Saturday's final. The foursome of David Coombs, Duhaney, Sappleton and Robert Smith ran a 3:10.05, a season best in the event by nearly nine seconds, and will compete on Saturday at 5:45 p.m. The mark also beat the qualifying standard for the NCAA Regional meet, the first time for OU to meet the standard this season.
Lucretia Rimmer finished 16th in the triple jump with a leap of 37-6.75 and Veronica Clayborne was 19th in the same event with a 36-4.75. Joe Butler did not clear a height in the high jump.
In other late action Thursday night, Darren Hutchins finished 29th in the 10,000-meter run with a 31:31.83. Last night marked the first time this season for Hutchins to compete in the 10,000 and the time was a career best by nearly a minute.
