Sooner Women Win Distance Medley Relay At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Kelsey Moore got it started this morning for the Sooner track and field team at the 109th Penn Relays with a fifth place finish in the high jump.

Moore cleared the opening height, then barely missed three attempts at the next height to finish with a 5-4.5.

Later in the day, the Sooners' distance medley relay team, made up of Terrika Warren, Alaina Dearman, Aisha Stringer and Nicola Maye, won its division with a time of 11:41.39. The time was a season best by more than 13 seconds and set an OU school record.

Tonight, Jimmy Buchanan and Joe McNair will compete in the 5,000-meter run and Darren Hutchins will close OU's first day of competition in the Penn Relays in the 10,000 meter run. The 5,000 is scheduled for 8:55 p.m. but events were running 30 minutes behind during the afternoon session. The 10,000 is scheduled for 10:10 p.m.

OU will continue competition tomorrow at the Penn Relays while the 10 student-athletes who headed to the 94th annual Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, will begin competition Friday morning.
