Softball Adds Doubleheader To Schedule

Norman, Okla. - Oklahoma added a doubleheader with St. Gregory's to the softball schedule school officials announced Sunday. The Sooners will host SGU on Tuesday, March 11 with the opening game of the twinbill beginning at 4 p.m. at the OU Softball Complex in Norman. Fans will be admitted to both games free of charge.

OU battled inclement weather early in the 2003 season and was forced to cancel or postpone eight games.

The No. 6 Sooners (18-3) depart for the Kia Classic in Fullerton, Calif., on Wednesday, March 12. Oklahoma, No. 11 Arizona State, Cal State Northridge and UNLV reside in Pool A. OU will play each of the other three teams in its pool, then begin single-elimination bracket play on Friday, March 14 at 5 p.m.

Possible opponents in bracket play include No. 3 Nebraska, Notre Dame, Fresno State, No. 13 DePaul, Hawaii, No. 5 Texas, No. 9 Cal State Fullerton, No. 4 Washington, No. 2 Arizona, Louisiana-Lafayette, Long Beach State and No. 16 Florida State.

Oklahoma just completed play in the OU/Worth Invitational held at the OU Softball Complex, March 7-9. The Sooners extended their win streak to 11 games with a 4-0 performance in the Invitational with wins over Wisconsin and Northwestern State.
