Softball's Leah Gulla Named Big 12 Player of the Week

Norman, Okla. - OU softball infielder Leah Gulla was named Big 12 Player of the Week the conference office announced from Dallas, Texas, on Thursday. This follows the senior previously being named Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week on Wednesday.

The Huntington Beach, Calif., native batted .590 during the stretch with 13 hits including four doubles, two home runs, five runs and a team-high 12 RBI. At third base, Gulla amassed eight putouts and 13 assists with no errors.

For the season, Gulla leads the Sooners in hits (23), RBI (20), doubles (6), appearances at the plate (55) and assists (33).

Gulla became the 19th Sooner to be named Big 12 Softball Player of the Week. Oklahoma has also had 15 Big 12 Pitchers of the Week. Gulla was the first OU softball player to be named Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week.

The No. 6 Sooners host Wisconsin and Northwestern State in the OU/Worth Invitational beginning Friday at Noon at the OU Softball Complex in Norman.
