NORMAN, Okla. - OU freshman DaBryan Blanton was named Big 12 Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week today for his performances during the week of March 23-30. Blanton becomes OU's second honoree in as many weeks. Senior Kyle Bookout won the award last week, the first of the outdoor season.

Jason Stanley won the award on Jan. 27 for his performance in OU's second meet of the 2003 indoor season.

Blanton, from Forney, Texas, came up on top at the UTA Invite this last Saturday in Arlington, Texas. He ran 10.30 in the 100-meter dash that gave him the victory as well as a NCAA regional qualifying mark in his first race of the season. The time puts Blanton on the OU all-time career list as the ninth best time in the 100 meters.

Blanton is coming off an outstanding indoor season after earning All-America honors in the 60-meter dash at the 2003 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Blanton and his Sooner teammates will head to the Texas Relays Thursday through Saturday.
