Sooners Win 20th Consecutive Over Baylor, 3-0

NORMAN, Okla. - No. 4 Oklahoma won its 20th consecutive game over the Baylor Bears with a 3-0 shutout at the OU Softball Complex in Norman on Sunday afternoon.

The Sooners (30-5, 6-2 Big 12) used two big home runs to put away the visitors from Waco, Texas.

With the game scoreless through four innings, OU finally broke the deadlock in the bottom of the fifth. With a 2-1 count, senior centerfielder Erin Evans (1-for-3) notched her fourth roundtripper of the season to right center to put Oklahoma up, 1-0.

Not be outdone, senior third baseman Leah Gulla stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the sixth with Kelli Braitsch at first. Gulla blasted her eighth homer of the year over the left field wall and crossed the plate as the home crowd cheered to the strains of Boomer Sooner.

Gulla (1-for-3) tied Braitsch with the most home runs this season at eight each.

Freshman rightfielder Kristin Vesely and sophomore first baseman Christina Enea each notched two hits in three trips to the plate. Enea got her fourth double of the season in the fourth.

OU lefty Kami Keiter upped her record to 20-2 with six strikouts and one walk from the circle. Keiter allowed three hits after giving up just two in the Sooners' 2-0 win on Saturday.

Cristin Vitek (11-9) suffered the loss for Baylor. Vitek, in five innings, allowed six hits and three runs while fanning four and walking two batters. Katie Decker pitched the final inning for the Bears.

Oklahoma has not lost to Baylor since 1988. The Sooners extended their win streak to 20-straight games over the Bears with the sweep this weekend.

OU now turns its attention to the Bedlam matchup with Oklahoma State on Wednesday, April 2. The Sooners and Cowgirls face off at 7 p.m. at the OU Softball Complex in the Big 12 showdown.
