OU Snares Bears, 2-0

NORMAN, Okla. - No. 4 Oklahoma jumped on Baylor early, scoring two runs in the first three innings, and blanked the Bears, 2-0, at the OU Softball Complex in Norman on Saturday afternoon.

The Sooners (29-5, 5-2 Big 12) got a run from Erin Evans (2-for-2) in the first stanza to take the lead, 1-0, when she dashed home on a passed ball by Baylor catcher Danelle Arnold. Evans added another score to her team-high of 28 runs this season.

OU pushed another run across the plate in the bottom of the third when senior shortstop Kelli Braitsch (1-for-3) hit her seventh double of the season to plate Jessica Leslie. Leslie had reached first after being hit by Bear pitcher Katie Decker. Leslie advance to second on a sacrifice bunt by Erin Evans to get in scoring position.

The score was Leslie's sixth of the season and Braitsch's 29th RBI on the year.

Pitching a complete game for the Sooners, OU ace Kami Keiter improved to 19-2 on the season from the mound. Keiter went without pitching a strikeout for the first time this season but walked only one batter and gave up just two hits without allowing a run.

OU recorded its 13th shutout of the season. Keiter leads all Big 12 pitchers with nine shutouts on the year.

Baylor's Katie Decker, in her first start of the season, dropped to 5-3 with the loss. Decker allowed six hits and one earned run while fanning five OU bats and walking one.

Oklahoma and Baylor conclude their series on Sunday with the first pitch scheduled for Noon at the OU Softball Complex.
