The Sun Devils were first on the board at their home field in the bottom of the second when Garcia homered to left field.
OU's Leah Gulla singled to get on base and Christina Enea homered over the right field wall to put Oklahoma up, 2-1, in the top of the fourth.
ASU's Werschky singled to RBI Wright in the bottom of the fourth to even the score at 2-2.
The score remained knotted until the Sooner bats got hot in the sixth. Enea doubled to begin the inning and was replaced by pinch runner Nikki Holt on second base. Holt advanced to third when Heather Scaglione grounded out to second. Senior Jennifer Stump, OU's designated player, then blasted a roundtripper to give OU a 4-2 lead.
After that, the Sooners never gave the Sun Devils a chance to catch their breath. Pitcher Kami Keiter promptly blasted a homer over the right field wall and the Arizona State starting pitcher, Serrano, was done for the night. ASU placed Aguilar on the mound but she couldn't stem the Sooner advance. Kristin Vesely singled to left field and Erin Evans doubled to plate the freshman as Oklahoma assumed a 6-2 lead.
A Kelli Braitsch single scored Evans and the Sooners enjoyed a 7-2 advantage. The Sun Devils finally closed the inning when Enea popped up to the shortstop but the damage had been done. OU scored five runs on seven hits in the sixth stanza.
Arizona State couldn't rally and OU notched its second win over a top-10 opponent this season to improve to 9-3. The Sooners beat then-No. 7 CS-Fullerton, 3-0, last weekend at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Georgia.
Keiter, in a complete game for Oklahoma, improved to 8-1. The lefty from Arvada, Colo., allowed two runs on four hits, walked three Sun Devils and struck out three. OU stranded eight runners while ASU left three on base.
A rematch with Arizona State awaits OU at 5 p.m. (6 p.m. CT) Saturday night.
