AMES, Iowa - In a day dominated by the Sooner sprinters, LaVerne Jones posted another NCAA provisional qualifying mark to win the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.94.
The mark by Jones was a season best and is the third best time in Sooner history. Senior Jimyria Hicks was second in the event with a time of 24.20.
Senior L'eron George finished fifth in the men's 200 with a time of 21.58.
Other top 10 finishes for the Sooners in Ames today included Lurcretia Rimmer, ninth in the long jump; the women's distance medley relay that finished ninth; and Cory Crosby who was 10th in the long jump.
Rimmer's mark of 18-1 was an OU career best by seven inches. The women's distance medley posted a 12:15.76, a season best for that event on a metric track, and George's time was a season best.
The Sooners will continue competition in the ISU Classis on Saturday.
