Hanna Wins Pole Vault Title To Lead Sooners In Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. - Senior Robin Hanna cleared 16-4.75 to win the men's pole vault title tonight as the OU men finished the first day of the Radio Shack/Missouri Southern State College Invitational in second place in the team standings.

Sophomore Austin Landreth finished third in the pole vault as OU got 16 points from the pole vault.

Senior Devon Brabham had a career best by nearly two feet in the triple jump to lead a huge Sooner showing in that event. Brabham was second with a 48-2 but received the first-place points as the winner was Gregory Hughs who was competing unattached. Hughs posted a 51-5 to win the event but did not receive team points as an unattached competitor.

Brabham was joined in the point production by juniors Robert Smith who finished third overall, second in team points with a 48-1.75 and Cory Crosby who was fourth overall, third in team points with a 47-5.75.

Junior Leslie Dunlap led the Sooner women tonight with a fourth place finish in the pole vault. She cleared 12-1.50 to finish just ahead of OU teammates Lindsey Bourne, sixth at 11-7.75 and Mary Waytula, seventh at 11-7.75 (on number of misses). Freshman Devon Fox was ninth with an 11-1.75 and redshirt freshman Jennifer Plank finished 11th at 10-8.

Veronica Clayborne was the only other Sooner to compete tonight. She finished sixth in the women's triple jump with a 37-3, a collegiate career best for the Sooner sophomore.

The OU women were in sixth place after the first four events. Action resumes Saturday with field events at 11 a.m. and running events at 3 p.m.
