Oklahoma City, Okla. - Junior shortstop Kelli Braitsch and freshman pitcher Kami Keiter were named to the 2002 Big 12 All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the event on Sunday afternoon. The Sooners, who finished with a third place finish after losing to eventual champ Texas on Sunday morning, have placed at least one player on the all-tournament squad in the event's seven-year history.
Named the conference's first team shortstop on Thursday, Braitsch came out swinging during the tournament and finished third in hitting in the event with a .538 average. Braitsch led the Sooners, who produced a tournament field best .310 team batting average, in hitting and also contributed seven runs scored, two home runs and four RBI. The Broken Arrow, Okla., native's totals led all players in hits, home runs and runs scored.
A second team All-Big 12 selection as a utility player, Keiter made pitching appearances in all five of OU's contests and recorded a 0.42 ERA which ranked as the tournament's fourth-best average. The Arvada, Colo., freshman posted a 2-1 record with one save with her best performance coming in a 4-0 complete game shutout of top seeded Texas on Saturday. She did not surrender an earned run until her final outing against the Longhorns on Sunday in which she relinquished one run in her only loss of the tournament.
