On his philosophy going into the game:
"To win. We don't change from 15 years ago. We want to go out and do the things that we do well. We tried to be the aggressor, play good defense, get good pitching and get timely hitting and I think that's what the College World Series is all about."
On if the team was affected by the delay:
It's awfully tough to play the last game. Especially the night after some bad weather. We are at the hotel and there's a 40-minute delay so now you have to sit around. Being that it was the first (World Series) game for some of our young kids, they were probably ready to play at eight this morning and so I was a little bit concerned. But I think our team did a very good job in warm-ups and it carried over into the game."
ARIZONA SENIOR JENNIE FINCH
On getting out of the fourth inning with two runners on base:
"I just took it one pitch at a time and used my defense behind me to get out of the inning. I was feeling fine."
On playing the next game against Arizona State:
"Every game in the world series is do-or-die. Your back is against the wall and every game is huge."
ARIZONA SOPHOMORE LENEAH MANUMA
On getting her first-ever hit in the World Series with a home run:
"I didn't really think about it until I came into the dugout. I was striking the ball really well and I sat on the change-up. I hit the ball hard and it went out."
On if they were restless to play:
"We wanted to get out there and get a crack at the field. I think we came out with a lot of nerves and a lot of adrenaline but we used it in the right way."
NEBRASKA HEAD COACH RHONDA REVELLE
General comment:
"I think sometimes it's not a matter of a team losing, it's a matter of a another team outscoring them. I couldn't actually be more proud of our team. I thought we fought every single pitch, I thought we played great defense. I thought Peaches (James) pitched a wonderful game and it just happened that they took one out. I thought it was a great softball game and, like I said, I'm just really proud of our team. They showed a lot of fight and they showed a lot of passion and that's what they've been doing most of the year."
On the decision to start James in the circle:
"I think Peaches matches up with Arizona real well. I think in the Pac-10 you see quite a few pitchers that throw the ball more in the up zone. Peaches keeps the ball down and that's really how we made the decision."
NEBRASKA SOPHOMORE PEACHES JAMES
On giving up the home run to Leneah Manuma:
"I think that Leneah is a great hitter and with the off-speed, she waited on it very well and she got a hold of it and it went out. She hit a great pitch and all you can do is tip your hat to her. With the off-speed, that's the pitch you have to throw to keep them off balance and she waited on it and hit a great pitch."
NEBRASKA SOPHOMORE NICOLE TRIMBOLI
On preparing for the College World Series:
"I think a big battle for all of us was waiting all day. We had the last game of the day. We were pacing and were excited and you could feel it. We came into Big 12 (Tournament) and regional with a mission. We're happy to be here but we're not done yet. We didn't come to make an appearance, we came to play. We basically came here with the same attitude as the Big 12 and the regional."
