Texas A&M Head Coach Jo Evans
On beating Texas:
"That was a great win for our team. I was really happy with the way that we came out and attacked early on. In general I thought our defense was very solid. Our infield made every play that they were supposed to and our pitching really stepped up. That early hit was huge, especially when you knew that you had Cat Osterman waiting in the wings. To get the lead early was critical."
On pitcher Jessica Slataper:
"I was very proud of Jessica and very happy for her. She was disappointed in her performance yesterday, but she came back today with great composure and poise. She walked a couple of kids and gave up a run, but then she really settled in and pitched extremely well."
On her Texas A&M squad:
"I like the fact that our team has a lot of energy. There are very few times that we have to get our kids pumped up to play. This win was a great one. We've had a lot of close games against Texas this year and it was really great to win one of those close ones."
Texas A&M Pitcher Jessica Slataper
On rebounding from her pitching performance yesterday:
"I was pretty confident. I never had to doubt myself because my team always rallied around me. I never thought, for a moment, that they had lost confidence in me."
Texas A&M Catcher Selena Collins
On Jessica Slataper:
"Jessica just went out there and did what she does. It took a minute to get the jitters out, but then she relaxed. She and I were in sync today. No matter what, we knew that we had each others' back and that's what you need in the one-two combination."
Texas Head Coach Connie Clark
On the losses:
"This was extremely difficult. Let's just say there were no end-of-the-year speeches prepared."
On OU's homefield advantage:
"It's a plus for Oklahoma. The crowd was into it and extremely helpful. They were the 10th man today."
On whether is was difficult playing A&M right after losing to Oklahoma:
"It was extremely difficult to come back and play that second game. That kind of quick turnaround is tough. Our game with Oklahoma was a very emotional battle."
Texas Second Baseman Lindsay Gardner
On the play at the plate:
"I thought I beat it. But you have to give (Texas A&M catcher) Selena Collins credit. She's a great catcher and, on that play, made a great throw."
On not catching breaks today:
"Thing just didn't go our way. For myself, that line drive (against Texas A&M) was one of the hardest balls I hit this year. A couple of inches higher and that's a triple."
Texas Starting Pitcher Cat Osterman:
On the fifth inning against Oklahoma:
"You never expect anything like that. At one point it seemed like it would never end. If anything (bad) could have happened, it did. It just wasn't meant to be."
Texas Starting Pitcher Amy Bradford:
"After watching the first game, I told myself I had to be as strong as Cat (Osterman). I've had a couple of bad outings recently, but I think I definitely turned the corner today."
